As a global corporate citizen Tyco strategically invests philanthropic resources to effect sustainable change in communities.
Tyco's commitment is driven by a strategy focusing resources on organizations and programs that achieve results. And, we are engaging the expertise and commitment of Tyco employees as volunteers to leverage the impact of our financial contributions.
A strong philanthropy program resonates with our ethics, values and culture - it's the right thing to do. But when we touch communities through our philanthropic and volunteer investment, we also benefit our businesses, shareholders and stakeholders.
Tyco has focused most of its philanthropy in three focus areas that are critical to its stakeholders and communities around the world:
Life Safety: Tyco will provide resources that work to ensure the safety, security and health of people in our communities. Focus areas include:
- Raising the level of safety and health among under-served populations.
- Supporting affordable housing for disadvantaged community members.
- Providing emergency relief for natural or man-made disasters.
Education: Tyco invests in the future of young people in under-served communities, helping them to succeed in school, post-secondary education and meaningful employment. To do this we:
- Provide educational opportunities for under-represented groups, with a focus on achievement in the areas of communications, science, engineering and business.
- Offer resources to teachers, increasing capacity to reach a greater number of students in a more meaningful way.
- Celebrate and leverage diversity to benefit communities and business.
Environment: Tyco works within communities, and around the world, to help keep our water and critical environments clean, and to deliver our most vital resource to people in the developing world. Initiatives include:
- Working with non-profit partners to supply communities with safe, clean water.
- Promoting an appreciation of the natural environment to effect change in future generations.
- Endorsing and practicing principles of smart-growth and efficient use of natural resources.
- Preserving and restoring natural habitats.
The goal of our philanthropic efforts is to build capacity through sustainable initiatives that will serve people and communities for years to come.
